Rather than dedicate a post "Happy Birthday, America!", I figured I would just wait and tell all about my wonderful weekend (I figured there were enough happy birthdays out there, and I was out celebrating it instead of posting about it!).
Anyways, I love long weekends since it means more quality time with the DH (in particular this was our very last long weekend without a child!). We started of Friday morning by sleeping in, and then DH took me for a sailboat ride. Don't get too excited... the sailboats can only hold 2 people, but it was still fun to be out on it and only having to go a few blocks to get to it was a bonus too. We did have to end our ride a little early though since the wind didn't want to cooperate. Oh well, it was still fun! We then went and checked out BlackRidge Reservoir that just opened up in Herriman and decided it is somewhere we'd take the baby to next year since it had a nice sized beach and all, but this year we'd pass. Really, we just wanted to check it out since my DH was involved in the design of it. He was excited to see that they really did use parts of his design too. Yay for DH! I think he misses working for a Civil engineering firm, but he does love his current job so its a toss up.
We wrapped up Friday with a bar-b-que at my in-laws house (the family all met there, ate, and most everyone continued on to the Riverton Parade, which we passed on this year). After eating, we chose to go home and watch a movie instead and head off to bed since we were planning an early (and long) day the next day.
Sat. morning we woke up later than expected and headed off to Logan, UT for the Cache Valley Car Show. This was our 4th year going to the show, but unlike previous years, DH and I opted not to stay in Logan for the weekend (mainly due to pregnancy, however it turned out to be a good decision based off of cash flow!). We were slightly dissappointed in the show this year since there were a lot of empty spaces compared to last year when the show was packed. I'm thinking the economy had a huge role in this since quite a few cars come from out of state, and nearly all are from at least a different city. Then again, a police officer wasn't exactly helping out when she started ticketing people for having their dogs in the park (there was no posting stating they weren't allowed and there were a lot of dogs there!). I'm quite irked by the whole situation, especially since I think what she did will end up hurting the show as a whole in future years. My parents, in particular, won't be going back (however this was a decision that was being discussed beforehand anyhow since they are considering Boise next year.....). A lot of things have changed about the show that we were dissappointed about and don't think it will be the same. Regardless, it is a beautiful drive to Logan and we enjoyed spending a few hours up there. We came back early that afternoon with my nephew to bar-b-que some more, play the Wii, and then head off to the Riverton City firework show, which was really good this year! We were probably 100 feet from where they were setting them off, and according to DH, the show has never been this good!
I really can't say much for yesterday since it was really a lazy day complete with sleeping in late, playing some more Wii with my nephew before he went back to my parents house, watching some TV and catching up with friends. It was nice to just relax and spend the day doing nothing in particular though!
Overall, it was a great weekend. I have to say, the 4th is one of my favorite holidays and we're looking forward to next year when we have the little man to celebrate it with!

Hi Melissa
I hope you are doing well.
What is blackridge? You have to fill me in all the fun stuff in South Jordan and Herriman.
I am glad your baby shower went good I want to see pics.
Hi Rossanne! Blackridge is up in Herriman Heights, like at the very top of everything. I think you can get there taking Rosecrest Road.
I'll post baby shower pics soon too... just need to get them from my sister and Aunt! Speaking of which... I need to get my graduation pictures from my parents and sister too!
