School Vouchers??? Not in Utah!!

I was relieved to find out last night that school vouchers were rejected by utah voters. Thank goodness. Of course I know that this isn't over yet, but I'm just relieved that the first step was a big fat no. There were so many issues wrong with this issue that no matter how much I tried to think that there might be some good in it, I kept finding information that proved otherwise. Of course the two biggest things that I'm relived about???? Seperation of church and state was upheld since religous schools would have been eligible for money (I want to send my kids to a private religous school but I don't think I should get money for that choice), and the fact that in 12 years, tax dollars would be used to pay for a portion of every single childs tuition for private school. This one was the big one because pro-voucher used the excuse that current students would not be eligible... they never talked about what happens in 12 years when 100% of private school students would be eligible. Of course there are many other issues, many of which have been discussed in newspapers but thankfully that is all irrelivant now. Yea for Utah voters! Oh, and congrats to Ralph ,our new mayor.... a word to Rocky... Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
